....a few years back i was lucky enough to receive the 3cdr package "solutiore of stareau" from fellow idm listee nick willscher zammuto.the breadth of these 3 cdrs was incredible. from cut and paste glitchery noise to very mellow minimalist tones it continues to get a lot of play on my stereo.apartment b released "willscher" and infraction ended up releasing excerpts from these discs over the last few years. of course as he became a buzz name in electronic circles,i lost touch with him. not having seen anything new from him in quite a while i was wondering what happened to him.

...darla's most recent mailout has answered this. zammuto has paired up with paul de jong to become books.tomlab out of cologne has just released their new cd "thought for food".almost cool has a review up on a release that i can hardly wait to hear.welcome back zammuto.

...constellation records is giving nov11/02 as a release date for the new godspeed you black emperor! cd "yanqui u.x.o." . nov.11th being significant to them as it is our remebrance day here in canada. or veterans day to any americans reading.

...go to the 12k site and grab the four mp3s they have up by motion. he of the split with matmos on fat-cat records. look on the left hand panel for "term" and click away to the files. they are only up for a short period,so act quickly.

...went for a coffee and some browsing at chapters yesterday. chapters, i suspect is the canadian version of barnes & noble. i could not have picked up two more disparate magazines.they were::
mojo - the august issue with bob marley on the cover.really picked it up for the cd that was included.it is a trojan records comp that has the usual suspects on it. bob marley,jimmy cliff,gregory issacs,et al. but it also has some great tracks from people i had not heard. the review they give lone pigeon is a lot friendlier than the stylus one too.

the thresher - this is a great little book/magazine that comes out three times a year. i believe that badger would enjoy its political outlook. in this issue some of the articles are::

...string theory is an electronic duo that is reminiscent of boards of canada.to dismiss them as simply copiers though would be a huge mistake.sure they have the warm tones that boc employ,but that is only the tip of it. if interested,do check out the mp3s on their website as they have also put up their contribution to the smak series on skam .jeff klein ,who's taste in music is truly impeccable ,calls String Theory : Anhedonia - BRILLIANT!! . what more do you need?
