...two new albums gleaned from a friends ftp. apparently both are on soulseek too.

...first off godspeed you! black emperor has a new album "yanqui u.x.o." out next month. this is the one recorded by steve albini. i don't really notice anything upon hearing this that is really any different soundwise from their earlier efforts. i expected maybe a little grungier sound with the drums possibly pushed to the fore,but this is not the case. i do really like gy!be and that makes me not a very good reviewer of this album. did notice that they used horns on the 2nd of the three tracks.

...the other item i grabbed was the advance of sigur rós . this is again another sweeping effort that will be gobbled up by anyone that dug their last album. lots more epic sounding songs that leave me wanting to hear more and hopefully catch them on the just announced n.a. tour.

....nothing to say tonight aside from mentioning i've added Sandbox Automatic, Inc. to my commerce:: links section. brap mentioned this place to me a while ago ,but as my usual sloth-like ways go...i've really only just begun to investigate it. if you are a fan of hip-hop but seem to have a hard time finding the smaller label stuff you would be well advised to check them out.

...go to the rub and grab the enon track that paul graciously put up for this week only. it's a really great song that paul compares favourably to roxy music's "virginia plain". maybe it's the rob crow-like vocals but i hear a distinct pinback feel to this particular track. i will definately search ot the album "High Society" though.


...been listening to Digitonal -" 23 Things Fall Apart" on toytronic after chris raved about it.must say the man has great taste as this is very cool . if you like the thought of idm mixed with live strings ,then you should check this release out by the duo. the vinyl is 6 tracks as opposed to the cd which has 7. so for my money the cd is the way to go.this is what the s://kimo mailout this week had to say about this disc::
